In 1981 the production of the first generation Renault Trafic was started. It went on until 2001 when the second generation was started. Several updates and changes went on through the years, making the Trafic more modern as time went on. In 1989 it received a front end update which included a plastic bumper, and a longer, rounder body shape. In 1995 another update was done. The Trafic received a new grille, new tail lights, large rear view mirrors, and a new interior with modern touches including a new modern dashboard.

The second generation Renault Trafic was produced from 2001 to 2014. The commercial van was made in several different versions. It came in a three seater with lots of storage space for loads all the way to a 9 seater van. In 2006 the Trafic received a facelift which included clear indicators instead of orange.

The third generation began production in 2014 and is still going strong. The sleeker design with large windows is eye appealing to driver and bystanders.
