The Pontiac G6 is a performance-oriented vehicle that was sold between 2005 and 2010. It is a midsize car and was designed to replace an older model, the Pontiac Grand Am. Even though the G6 was sold for just six years, it was a very popular model because of how rewarding the G6 is to drive. This can be carefully preserved if you use the instructions inside a Pontiac G6 repair manual to regularly service and maintain your car!

The very first G6 was sold in 2005 in two different trim styles, the standard trim and a GT trim. Even though the GT trim was marketed as a sportier style, it had the same 3.5L V6 engine as the standard, and differed only in interior technology and comforts. Both models also were paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission, although the GT offered the option of manual gear shifting.

Things changed in 2006 when a few new trims were added to the lineup. A new standard trim emerged, which was equipped with a smaller 2.4L four-cylinder engine. The original 3.5L V6 engine was still used on the GT trim, but was also offered as an option for the new standard trim.

Another new trim, known as the GTP, was the real sport trim that was created. The GTP used a 3.9L version of the V6 engine used in other trims, but the larger engine variably times valves, which led to increased performance. The GTP trim was available with a 4-speed automatic like the others, or the additional option of a 6-speed manual.

In 2007, all models saw safety advances and most trims received engine upgrades. The GT’s engine remained the same, but used the same variable valve timing technology as the 3.9L V6 used in the 2006 GTP. The GTP did receive a brand new engine, a 3.6L V6 that was matched with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The G6 continued to be a hot seller until General Motors finally announced bankruptcy. Despite the larger company’s struggles, the Pontiac G6 was in high demand even through its final period of production because of how well the vehicle performed!

If you drive a Pontiac G6, then you caught one of the best final waves of production that General Motors distributed. G6 models are known for offering a sporty feel in an ultra-comfortable and safe interior. When you’re busy with everyday life, it can be easy to forget car maintenance. Finding a copy of a Pontiac G6 service manual pdf can quickly fix that! Rather than putting an oil change or broken part swap off for another day, take care of it now and extend the life of your wonderful G6!
