MX-5

The MX-5 is a lightweight front engine rear-wheel drive roadster that has been produced since 1989. Currently, in its fourth generation production run, the MX-5 is one of Mazda’s most notable models that owners to this day maintain through the use of a Mazda MX-5 service manual. The first generation Mazda MX-5 was introduced in 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show. The first generation was also given the code NA to differentiate between the many generations to come.

Production code NB was given to the second generation of the Mazda MX-5 which debuted just a year after the first generation stopped being produced. In 1998, the Mazda MX-5 saw a variety of notable exterior changes including fixed headlamps and styling cues straight from the Mazda RX-7. Other changes included the variable intake control system and an increase in engine compression. The MX-5 second generation was also the only model to come with a turbocharged engine, straight from the factory.

After its debut at the New York International Auto Show in 2005, the third generation Mazda MX-5 began sales globally which was a step in the right direction for all sales. This generation MX-5 was produced from 2005 until 2015, a grand 10 years for the production code NC. A retractable hardtop was given to the third generation MX-5 which was a notable change for Mazda vehicles, especially the MX-5.

The fourth and current generation Mazda MX-5 began sales in 2015 after much anticipation. Labeled with production code ND, this generation is the first to use Mazda’s SkyActiv technology which has been noted as a great milestone for Mazda. The SkyActiv technology has been noted as a great addition to Mazda’s vehicles.
