1997 > 1.8L DOHC > APPLICABLE DEVICES Test light 1. The test light uses a 12V bulb and is used for simple voltage check or to check for short circuits. Be sure not to use an over 3.4W light for the measurement of the control unit. Jumper wire 1. The jumper wire is used to check for short circuits o power source or the ground conditions. Do not connect the jumper wire between the power source line and the body ground, because harness or electrical components may be burnt out by ding so. Voltmeter 1. The DC voltmeter is used for measurement of circuit voltage .A voltmeter with a range of 15V or more is used. 2. It is used by connecting the red (+) probe to the point where voltage is to be measured and connecting black (-) probe to a body ground. Ohmmeter 1. The ohmmeter is used to measure the resistance of circuits and check for continuity of short circuits.

PRECAUTION WIRING COLOR CODE 1. Two color wires are indicated by a 2 letter symbol. The first letter indicates the base color and the second color indicates the color of the stripe. Classification Color B BLACK Br BROWN G GREEM L BLUE Lb LIGHT BLUE Lg LGIHT GREEN O ORANGE R RED Y YELLOW W WHITE V VIOLET P PINK CONNECTOR 1. This connector can e removed by pressing the lock lever. Do not pull the wire when removing the connector. Be sure to hold the connector body when removing. CHECK NOTE 1. When checking the continuity or voltage with a circuit tester, insertion of the test probe into the receptable connect may open the fitting and result in poor contact. Thus, that probes should be inserted from the wire harness side.

REPLACEMENT OF TERMINAL 1. Use the appropriate tools to remove the terminal, as shown in the figure. When installing the terminal, be careful to pres it in until it locks securely. A. (Female type No.1) Insert a push-tool or thin piece of metal from the terminal side of the connector, and then pull the terminal out from the rear side with the locking tabs pressed down. B. (Female type No.2) C. (Male type) Same as the female type. REPLACEMENT OF FUSE 1. When replacing a fuse, be sure to replace it with one of the specified capacity. If, after replacing fuse, it fails again, a short circuit may be the cause. The wiring harness should be checked. 2. Be sure that battery (-) terminal is disconnected before replacing the main fuse. 3. When replacing a fuse, use the supplied fuse puller in the use box cover.

THIN INSULATION WIRE 1. To reduce the weight of the wiring harness, a thin coated high resistant insulation material is used. SHIELD BRAID WIRE 1. This wire is used to prevent malfunction of circuits which is important and susceptible to external signals or interference. e. g. > Ignition coil O₂ Sensor ELECTRICAL SYMBOLS SWITCH AND RELAY There is a NC (Normally Closed) or NO(Normally Open) indication for switches and relays, which indicates the operational condition when there is no charge of the condition.
