The history of the Jeep Commander is interesting and fast paced. The first Commander
produced was in 2005. Most years offered the same models with a few changes. The big
change came in 2006 when it came with available folding third row seats. This change helped
Jeep compete with other big name car manufacturers producing family sized SUV’s.
From 2006 to 2010, the Jeep Commander was made in trim levels including the Base, or Sport.
This trim came with two different engine options, the 3.7L V6 engine or the 4.7L V8 engine. This
mid-size SUV has some serious power. It also included available seating for 7 passengers. The
Limited model was produced from 2006 to 2010 and came with either a 4.7L or 5.7L V8 HEMI
engine. The Limited came with leather power seats, standard 7 passenger seating, and a
Boston Acoustics sound system.
The Overland was produced from 2007 to 2009. It came with the 5.7L V8 engine. It had a
custom mesh grille insert, Overland logos, and wood and leather interior design. It also has a
large sunroof. The 65th anniversary edition was only produced in 2006. It came in either a 3.7L
or 4.7L engine. It included 65th anniversary exterior badging and front seat badging. The Rocky
Mountain trim came with Rocky Mounting badging and several other upgraded features.
