Q45

Infinity is the American luxury brand of Nissan Motors. Infinity entered the luxury sedan segment in 1989, backed by Nissan’s stellar reputation for reliability, and brought upscale styling and materials coupled with outstanding performance and handling characteristics. The Infiniti Q45 was the flagship luxury sedan produced by Infiniti. Owners find it easy to repair and maintain these cars with an Infiniti Q45 service manual.

The Q-Series from Infiniti is considered by enthusiasts to be among the very best of all models produced. When the Q45 was introduced in 1989, it featured incredible power from it’s 4.5 liter V8 engine. By 1991, the Infiniti Q45 was available with active suspension technology that automatically adjusts to compensate for road quality and driving style. The Q45a was available with all-wheel steering, further enhancing the already road-hugging prowess of the base model.

The 4.5 liter V8 used by Infiniti was rated at 278 horsepower and produced 298 lb-ft of torque, plenty of power to propel the modestly sized car to 60 mph in just 6.7 seconds. While the first series was criticized for its unconventional styling, the multi-link suspension, limited slip differential and reputation for outstanding build quality and reliability instantly created an enthusiast market. The all-wheel steering models are popular with tuners and collectors today.

Infiniti made substantial changes to the Q45 in the second generation, adopting more conventional technology such as suspension components similar to those used by Toyota. The second generation debuted in 1996 with a smaller 4.1 liter V8 engine that reduced performance slightly but increased economy. In model year 2000, Infiniti introduced the 45th Anniversary Q45 in celebration of the companies ten year anniversary. This special edition model featured high end features like heated seats and a rear spoiler.

The third and final generation of the Q45 was introduced in 2002, and despite glowing reviews from the automotive press, sales were lackluster. Nissan ceased importation of the Q45 in 2006, but the Nissan-equivalent Cima continued to be sold until 2010. The 2005 Infiniti Q45 was the first vehicle in the United States to feature voice-activated navigation controls.

Tuners and car collectors today search for good condition first generation models, many of which are used for car shows. The combination of luxury and performance makes for an ideal daily driver that can blow the doors off other luxury cars from the time period. Keeping these powerful vehicles running right is not challenging for owners using an Infiniti Q45 repair manual.
