The Geo Metro is a vehicle resulting from the combined efforts of Suzuki and General Motors. The Metro represented the values of purpose of Geo well, through being an economy-friendly, compact vehicle. Any Geo Metro still driving on the road today is an excellent thing to see, being more than 20 years old now. If you want to prolong the life of your vehicle, get your hands on a Geo Metro repair manual! Many car problems have a simple fix, often just needing to replace a part. Skip a trip to the repair shop and swap out the part yourself!

The Metro was sold throughout the entire lifetime of the Geo brand, lasting between 1989 and 1997. One of the biggest advantages of the Metro is it’s superior gas mileage, getting upwards of 40-50 miles to the gallon. Despite being a cheaper vehicle, it ranks quite well on safety ratings, impressive for a vehicle so small.

Prior to introduction of the Metro, Chevrolet sold a vehicle known as the Sprint, which was essentially the Suzuki Cultus. The first generation of Geo Metros were sold as 1989 models, basically replacing the Sprint, and were nearly identical to the second generation of Suzuki Cultus cars.

In 1995, the second generation of Geo Metro was released, now featuring a new body style more representative of North American car trends, and steering away from the traditional Suzuki Cultus look. The vehicle also increased in size, being sold as a traditional sedan or hatchback. The second generation of Metros lasted until 2001, becoming Chevrolet models after 1997, at which point the line was ultimately discontinued.

While Geo Metros aren’t the flashiest or the most-powerful car on the road, they’re certainly reliable and do just what you need. Metros are great at getting you to your destination, not costing you much to do so. That’s why you can still find Geo Metros out on the road and for sale still today! They were built well, letting them run for years so long as they are well cared for.

The Geo Metro isn’t a car you’ll see everyday anymore, being an older vehicle model. That doesn’t mean you should skip on routine maintenance and servicing. To make that simple, pick up a Geo Metro service manual that will give you specific steps to follow that will let you take care of maintenance needs on your own! That’s all you need to keep your trusty set of wheels on the road!
