01.01 CONSULTING THE MANUAL The manual si divided into sections each of which is identified by means of a letter. Each section is divided into chapters each of which is identified by the letter of the section to which it belongs followed by a sequential number. Each chapter is in turn divided into paragraphs identified by the letter of the section, the number of the chapter and by a sequential number separated by a period. This system enables reference to be made to chapters or paragraphs of other sections. The index at the start of each section allows the reader to determine which chapter and paragraph to refer to for information about a given subject. 01.02 UPDATING - PRINT Updating The manual is updated from time to time as the vehicle undergoes modifications or new versions are produced. ALWAYS refer to the Technical Information as it may contain more recent adjustment or service information than the manual. 01.03 SYMBOLS The Safety Symbols given below are used to draw the user's attention to personal safety hazards, operational conditions which constitute a risk of damage to the vehicle and for providing useful information about the current operation. 02.01 USING THE MANUAL This publication is produced by FERRARI Technical Service as an aid to servicing FERRARI cars. The manual is addressed to expert technicians capable of correctly and safely servicing and repairing FERRARI cars. Attempting to work on the car without the necessary training can be a source of hazard for the technician and driver and also lead to damage of the car itself. Page 1 of 1 01
02.02 SERVICE PROCEDURES The operator must be familiar with the instructions and safety warnings, and avoid the use of inadequate tools or procedures which could compromise his own safety or damage the car. Further to the guided diagnostics system available with the FERRARI SD-3 tester, each section of the manual contains diagnostics procedures for determining faults in the components. It is essential that the operator evaluate the driver's impressions by asking questions intended to clarify the symptoms of the fault. Once the cause has been determined, plan the work to be done by referring to the notes specifying the tools to be used, overhaul reference data and removal and re-assembly procedures given in the manual. Following the procedures given in this manual for each operation ensures the safety of the driver and reliability and quality of the car itself. Page 1 of 1 01
02.03 USE OF ORIGINAL TOOLS AND SPARE PARTS FERRARI provides special tools for its accredited workshops which ensure the safety and correctness of service operations. NOTES Not using FERRARI tools, or using alternative tools, may damage components and/or systems and void the guarantee. Always use original FERRARI spare parts, which are listed in the relevant spare parts catalogue.
