1. Check for PGM-FI DTCs (see

2. Check the No. 10 (20 A) fuse in the
under-hood fuse/relay box, and the No.
13 (15 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash
fuse/relay box.
3. Do the cruise control combination switch
test (see CRUISE CONTROL
COMBINATION SWITCH
TEST/REPLACEMENT ).
4. Do the cruise control input test (see
CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST ).
Poor ground G301
(M/T model) or G101
(A/T model)
Cruise control can be set, but the
cruise main indicator does not
come on
1. Do the gauge control module self-
diagnostic function procedure (see
SELF - DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION ).
2. Do the cruise control input test (see
CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST ).
Test the cruise control main switch
signal input.
3. Check for PGM-FI DTCs (see
GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING
INFORMATION ).
Faulty gauge control
module
Cruise control can be set, but the
cruise control indicator does not
come on
1. Do the gauge control module self-
diagnostic function procedure (see
SELF - DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION ).
2. Do the cruise control input test (see
CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST ).
Test the cruise control indicator signal
input.
3. Check for PGM-FI DTCs (see
GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING
INFORMATION ).
Faulty gauge control
module
Vehicle does not accelerate
accordingly when the resume/accel
button is pressed
1. Do the cruise control combination switch
test (see CRUISE CONTROL
COMBINATION SWITCH
TEST/REPLACEMENT ).
2. Do the cruise control input test (see
CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST ).
Test the resume/accel switch signal
input.
3. Check for PGM-FI DTCs (see

CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST
1. Connect the Honda HDS to the DLC (see HOW TO USE THE HDS (HONDA DIAGNOSTIC
SYSTEM) ).
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
NOTE: Always make sure that you have the latest HDS software.

3. Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle and the ECM/PCM. If it does not communicate,
troubleshoot the DLC circuit (see DLC CIRCUIT TROUBLESHOOTING ).
4. Check for and troubleshoot any DTCs (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
5. Do the following tests while monitoring parameters in the PGM-FI DATA LIST with the HDS.
6. If the input tests prove OK, replace the ECM/PCM (see ECM/PCM REPLACEMENT ).
NOTE: Intermittent failures are often caused by loose circuit connections. While
monitoring cruise control inputs, flex the circuit wires, and note if any of
the test results change.

CRUISE CONTROL COMBINATION SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT
There are SRS components located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT
LOCATION INDEX ), and the precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ), in
the SRS before doing repairs or service.
1. Remove the steering wheel (see STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL ).
2. Remove the steering wheel rear cover (see STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL ).
3. Disconnect the cable reel subharness connector (A), then remove the steering wheel trim/cruise control
combination switch (B).
