The Acura MDX is a three-row crossover vehicle, first produced in 2001 by Japanese manufacturer Honda. The MD-X, or “Multi-dimensional luxury” Acura model is regarded as the best-selling luxury three-row crossover of all time. Servicing these vehicles is easy with an Acura MDX service manual PDF. With the same platform as the Honda Pilot, the Acura MDX became the first three-row crossover, seating 7 with a two seats in its third row.

The first generation of the Acura MDX won North American Truck of the Year and was named Car and Driver magazine's Best Luxury SUV in 2001. The vehicle came equipped with a J35A3 3.5 L SOHC 24 valve V6 engine with VTEC technology and VTM-4 four-wheel drive, which boosted efficiency by running with front-wheel drive while cruising and automatically engaging four-wheel drive when wheel slippage was detected. In 2002, a new MDX model offered navigation and DVD options, and later, with the 2003 model, the engine was upgraded to produce 20 hp more power, and the design of the wheels was improved. With the 2004 model came dual tail pipes, new wheels, and upgraded side airbags, as well as new tail lights and headlights.

After the 2006 model rolled out with minor aesthetic adjustments, Acura unveiled the second generation MDX, which would be released in October of the same year with a wider wheelbase and an upgrade in safety. Namely, this involved the addition of Honda's Advanced Compatibility Engineering energy-absorbing body structure. The second generation would roll out an array of models between 2006 and 2013. The engine of the second generation was upgraded to a 3.7 liter V6, one of Honda’s most powerful engines to date. The base model MDX came with luxury features such as a leather interior, Xenon headlights, and a power moonroof, and Acura offered three options for second generation MDX packages: Technology, Sport, and Entertainment. The Technology Package included an upgraded satellite GPS with real-time traffic reporting, as well as a 410-watt surround sound audio system, rear view camera, and a key-powered liftgate. The Sport Package included all the features of the Technology Package, plus perforated leather seats and aluminum alloy 5-spoke wheels. The Sport Package most notably featured suspension dampers that vastly improved handling through active response to road conditions.

The Entertainment Package was only available on top of either the Sport or Technology Package, and featured a 9-inch flip-down screen with 2 pairs of headphones for passengers.

The third generation Acura MDX was introduced in 2014, and is currently being produced with a 3.5-liter Earth Dreams V6 engine that features Variable Cylinder Management. In the United States, Acura now offers a front-wheel drive model, which is the first of its kind.

The Acura MDX is the most expensive Acura model, and boasts high quality features and stellar mechanics that launch the automobile ahead of its competition. Find details on repairing your Acura MDX in an Acura MDX repair manual.
