INSTRUCTIONS FOR ORDERING PARTS (a) All parts orders should be sent to the control district office or parts depot when so instructed. Give complete address, state the county and railroad station (when shipping point is different than post office), also whether shipment is to go by parcel post, express, truck, or freight. (b) When ordering parts, give the IH part number, including suffix or prefix letters. To facilitate identification of these parts, "Serial Numbers" assigned to machines, if any, should be furnished. (c) Parts should be ordered on the standard parts order blank. The parts should be arranged in sequence by part numbers to facilitate service on orders at the control district office or parts depot. (d) Claims for shortage or error in the handling of an order for parts must be made upon receipt of goods. All illustrations and descriptive matter in this publication apply to International Harvester products sold under the McCormick, McCormich-International, McCormick-Deering, or McCormick- Deering International trade name. We reserve the right to make changes or add improvements in the design or construction of parts at any time without incurring the obligation to install such changes on products preciously delicered.
INTRODUCTION This catalog contains a complete list of service parts for Farm Implements for use with Farmall Cub Tractor equi ped with Fast-Hitch. As new im lements are devefoped and introduced to the wale, new and supplementary loose-leaf pages to this catalog will be introduced. Following is a brief summary of the system used in compiling this catalog. l t is to your advantage to study this summary carefully: (1) General. The catalo is divided into p p : of implements as indicate$ by the index on age 1 The thumb tabs on this page direct the user of the catalog to a group index page where each implement within that group is listed. The group index page lists a "section" designation for each implement within the group. Example: Cub-144A Cultivator. . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . Section "A" Note that the first implement of each group is identi- fied as "SECTION A"; the second implement as "SECTION B", etc. Each implement is paged begin- ning with Page 1. The purpose for devising a parts catalog in this manner is twofold - first, to economically fwnish requests from the field for parts lists on individual implements; and second, to simplify the addition of new implements to the catalog. (2) ~~~ustrations. The method of illustrating parts in this catalog is known as the "Exploded View" method. The individual parts in each illustration are shown in their normal relationship to one another. Reference numbers only are shown in each illustration. These numbers correspond with the numbers in the reference number column in the list of parts following each "Exploded View". Unnumbered parts are the same as corresponding parts with reference numbers shown elsewhere in the illustration. In some instances, the "Exploded View illustrations show figure numbers which serve to identify the parts shown in the numer- ical group listings which follow the "Exploded Views". CAUTION: Reference nambers shozdd not be ased when ordering parts. Always ase ZH part numbers when ordering. (3) Parts Lists. Two methods of listing parts are shown in this catalog. The first method shows the parts listed in order by reference number on the illus- tration, iollowed by the part number7 and a full description based upon the "noun first'' method, i.e., the noun name of the part is listed first, then the modifying descriptive information is given which serves to specifically identify the item. For exam le: Adjasting Screw". i "SCREW, adjusting, press wheel" instead of "Press W eel The second method gives, in addition to the "Ex- loded View", a legend-type listing of parts in order ly reference number of the illustration, followed by the part number; a "one-noun" description, and the numerical group listing of parts in which the item is shown. The numerical group listing of parts follows the "Exploded View" seaions of each implement. Do not order parts from the "Exploded View" and the accompanying legend. This is for reference. Always go to the group listing for ordering and full description. The "Years Used" column, which is used in some instances, indicates that the parts will work only on machines manufactured in those years. For example: A part which shows "55-" will work on implements built 195 5 and since. A part which shows "195 5" will work only on implements built in that year. A part which shows "55-56" will work only on implements built 1955 and 1956. Where the "Years Used'' applies to a complete unit: as it does in the group listings, this information is shown as part of the title for -that unit. When an individual part in the group listing is discontinued and re laced by a new part, the "Years Used'' is shown as a 1 ded information to the description of the part. Whenever the terms "right" or ''left". are used, it should be understood to mean from a position behind and facing the machine. (4) Parts Numbers. Where the refix or suffix letter of f a part. number, or suffix num er following a letter has been advanced, indicating a change in the part, the new will work for the old unless otherwise specified. For example: 27 665 BA BRACKET, pressure spritzg rod will work for 27 665 B, ad 511 949 R2 BEAM, gang, left, will work for 512 949 R1. (5) Miscellaneous Parts. In a great many instances, parts which appear in an "Exploded View"-such as standard bolts, screws, nuts, etc.-are not identified by a reference number. These parts are known as "attaching parts'' and appear in the "Unit List'' indented under the respective individual parts with which they are used. In addition, standard hardware material, also used as attaching parts, which is identified by reference numbers7 appears in the "Unit List" indented under the parts with which they are used. Note that in some cases in order to maintain the continuity of reference numbers, adequate explan- atory remarks are given to those "attaching parts'' directing the user of this catalog to the item with which these parts are associated. They should be ordered by part number, as they are not component parts of the pieces they attach. (6) Abbreviations, The abbreviations used ln this catalog are explained in the list of abbreviations on page IV. (7) Indexes. On Page I is an index cuvering the groups of implements contained in this catalog. The thumbtabs on this page correspond with tabs at various positions throughout the catalog to help you in locating the proper group. Preceding each section is an index listing the units into which the implement is divided. A numerical index of part numbers is located immediately following the parts listiug for eacll implement.
