(AND McCORMICK-DEERING) PARTS CATALOG FARMALL Hand HV TRACTORS htt :IIBestManuals.n t INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER COMPANY 180 North Michigan Avenue Chicago 1, Illinois, U.S.A.
INTRODUCTION This catalog contains a complete list of parts for Farmalls Hand HV. Both of these tractors have 4-cylinder, 3% x 43i -inch carbureted engines. 'This catalog supersedes TC-27-D, which should he destroyed . The parts in this catalog are grouped according to their location in the tractor. Each group is preceded by an " exploded view" which dearly illustrates each part in its correct relation to the other parts in the illustration. Following is a brief summary the simplified system used in compiling this catalog . It is to your benefit to srudy this summary carefully: (1) Parts Numbers. In cases where the part number suffix letters have been advanced, the new part will replace the old unless otherwise indicated . For example: Cylinder head gasket 43 988 OF will work for 9f!f! D. DA. DB. DC and DE. (2) Illustrations. The "exploded views" of each unit show the individual parts clearly and in their proper relationship to each other . This method of illustrat- ing makes it easy to locate pares, whether they are ordered by description or by parts number . Reference numbers only are shown in each illustration. Parts in the illustrations without reference numbers are the same as corresponding parts with reference numbers. These numbers correspond to those in the reference number column in the list of parts which follows each " exploded view." (3) Method of Listing. The parts list is divided into groups corresponding to units in the traeror. Parts are listed in order by reference number of illustration, followed by a full description, serial number, and quantity required per tractor. All parts for which no serial number is shown are used in the first tractor having serial No . 501 and are still current. (4) Partial Assemblies and Complete Assemblies. You will find that some of the numbers are followed by the letters "X" or "Y." The suffix letter "X " indi- cates an assembly of parts which may be either a partial or a complete assembly. The suffix letter "Y," in nearly all cases, indicates a complete assembly. For example: 43917 DAX Exhaust Valve Lever, L.H. with Bushing is a partial assembly, whereas 43 91 7 DAY represents the foregoing with Adjusting Screw and Nut added, and is a complete assembly. The "assemblies" are shown at the back of the catalog under the heading "Details of Assembly." They are listed in numerical order, together with a list of the parts comprising each assembly, except assemblies made up of less than four parts. The latter are fully covered by description in the "Unit Lists" section. Items consisting of two or more components not serviced separately are so supplied because disassem- bly of tge components is considered impractical. In cases where the individual parts of an assembly are not available for service those parts are marked with the symbol §. In some instances, such individual parts are shown in the "Unit Lists" with a notation giving the part number which is to be used when ordering. For example: " 6144 DAR Piston (order 53665 DB )." (5) Index. On pages 4 and 5 you will find an alpha- betical index which is divided into five classifications: Engine, Electrical System, Chassis, Hydraulic System and Attachments. This index should be used to locate unit lists and illustrations. A numerical index at the back of the catalog contains a complete list of parts, showing the/age numbers where each part is listed and describe . (6) Standard Parts. The so-called " hardware". items such as bolts, screws, nuts, etc., are in most cases indented and listed unCler the irclividual parts with which they are used. They should be ordered by number, description and size, as they are not com- ponent parts of the piece they attach. (7) Serial Numbers and Letters. The engine serial numbers, starting with tractor No . 501 for the Farmall-H have prefix letters FBHM. Farmall-HV tractor engine seria l numbers started on tractor No. 109988 and have prefix letters FBHVM. The engine serial numbers for both of these tractors is stamped on the right side of the engine crankcase, above the magneto. The chassis (or tractor) serial numbers for these tractors are stamped on the nameplate on the left side of the clutch housing. The chassis serial numbers for both of these tractors correspond with the engine seria l numbers, except that the letter "M" is omitted. Customers should be urged to supply · the engine and tractor chassis serial numbers, Including prefix and suffix letters when ordering parts. A serial number suffix letter code has been established to identify parts which replace standard parts or units when . tractors have special features which differ from standard equipment. This code was started on Farmall-H and -HV tractors FBH-20 891 and up. Full details pertaining to this suffix letter code may be found on page 293 . (8) Prices. Parts prices will be found in the CH-219 tractor and engine price list, which is issued separately and includes both current and obsolete parts .
