SEPARATING THE TRACTOR 1190,1290, 1390and1490 INTRODUCTION Separating the tractor is the action of separating the tractor into two parts at the clutch housing. This procedure is necessary to do the following jobs: 1. Remove the engine 2. Repairs to the clutch This section details the procedure to be followed when working on the following tractors without cab or flat deck. 1190 2WD from PIN No . 11 030 001 1290 2WD and 4WD from PIN No . 11 050 001 1390 2WD and 4WD from PIN No . 11120 001 1490 2WD and 4WD from PIN No. 11180 001 Illustrations in the procedure do not show all models because parts are connected and fitted in different positions. Any reference to left -hand or right -hand is as seen from the operator's seat looking forward. SEPARATING THE TRACTOR 1190, 1290, 1390and1490 SEPARATING THE TRACTOR Put the tractor on a hard level surface. Apply the hand brake and put blocks in front and behind the rear wheels. Make sure you have enough space to move the front half of the tractor far enough forward to do the job. STEP 1. Remove the engine exhaust silencer. WARNING: If the engine has been running the exhaust will be hot . Use protective gloves to remove the exhaust or you will burn your hands. ~ 0 CXl a: STEP 2. Remove the precleaner from the engine air intake pipe. I I I STEP 3. Open the engine cover. ~ 0 CXl a: 0 r;: N CXl a: STEP 4. Disconnect the battery cables, ground cable first. .. STEP 5.
