If the clutch on your McCormick CX100 won’t disengage after installing a new disc, it’s likely an issue with the clutch linkage or pressure plate setup. Here's what to check:
-
Free play adjustment – Make sure the clutch pedal has the correct free play (usually around 1 inch at the pedal). Too much or too little can prevent full disengagement.
-
Clutch linkage – Inspect the rod and clevis for proper adjustment. If it's too tight or too loose, the release bearing might not be engaging the pressure plate fully.
-
Release bearing clearance – Ensure there’s correct clearance between the bearing and clutch fingers. If it’s too far out, the clutch won’t disengage.
-
Pressure plate alignment – If the pressure plate wasn’t aligned properly during install, it may cause issues with release travel.
If all adjustments are correct and it still won’t disengage, you may need to split the tractor again to inspect for misalignment or installation issues.
