PT125 Volvo Pneumatic Tire Compactors 4.3-12.6 t 63 kW
2 The compactor for your kneading requirements The Volvo PT125 is a nine-wheel pneumatic tire compactor typically utilized on hot mix asphalt and on chip-seal applications. The four front tires are staggered in position to provide overlap with the five rear tires, resulting in complete material coverage for consistent texture and appearance. Uniform compaction, even on irregular surfaces, is achieved using tire oscillation to maintain uniform tire contact pressure. Performance Features - Back-up alarm - Lay-down ROPS for transport - High wheel-loading capability with 14-ply tires - Horn - Hour meter - Hydrostatic propulsion system - Indicator lights for battery discharge, low engine oil pressure, high engine coolant temperature, and parking brake engagement - Pressurized water system with individual tire cocoa mats - Seat belt Selected Options - Audible alarm - Engine air precleaner - Four-way flashers and turn signals - Gauges for fuel level, voltmeter, hydraulic oil temperature, engine coolant temperature, engine oil pressure, air filter restriction - Heat skirts - Radial tires - ROPS / FOPS - Rotating beacon light - Speedometer - Tire scrapers - Vandal cover for console and engine - Work lights Tires The PT125 comes standard with four front and five rear 190,5 mm x 381 mm, 14-ply tires. The front tire pairs each oscillate +/- 3°. Water System The PT125 comes standard with a 379 l pressurized water system utilizing an electric diaphragm pump. Each tire has one spray nozzle with a 100 mesh filter in addition to the primary 80 mesh filter and tank inlet strainer.

This unit is typically utilized on hot mix asphalt (H.M.A.), chip and seal, semi- cohesive materials and soil cement applications. By design, the PT125R compactor provides a state-of-the-art hydrostatic proulsion system, eight-wheel oscillation, a smooth, low profile and easy to use controls. The Kubota V3600 diesel, water-cooled engine provides the required power with ample reserve for difficult applications. Engine The PT125R machine uses a Kubota V3600-T-E3B (US EPA Tier 3) water-cooled, heavy-duty, industrial engine with a net rating of 63 kW (84.5 HP). Electric starting and belt drive alternator are standard. A dry type, two-stage air cleaner system provides clean air to the engine. A dust discharging evacuator valve is provided on the air cleaner. The engine rpm is controlled by the throttle lever located on the steering pedestal. The engine is shutdown by either turning the ignition switch to OFF or, in an emergency, by pressing the emergency stop switch. Main Frame The machine consists of a structural frame with the water tank and steering wheels located on the front, operator platform approximately mid frame with the engine, hydraulic tank and pump components located at the rear of the frame. Controls All controls are positioned for operator convenience. The control panel contains the following standard controls and indicators: propulsion control, water spray switch, hourmeter, horn button, emergency stop push button (E-stop switch), park brake switch, brake pressure indicator, high engine oil temperature indicator, high engine pressure indicator, engine preheat indicator and alternator indicator. The following optional controls and gauges are available in addition to the standard controls: work light switch, directional light switch, hazard light switch, speedometer, fuel gauge, hydraulic oil temperature gauge, voltage gauge, air filter restriction gauge. Water Spray System The pressurized water system features a 379 L (100 gal.) plastic tank. The system consists of a separate pump, spray bars, and hand-serviceable nozzles. Brakes Service brakes are dynamic hydrostatic through the propulsion system. The park brakes are spring-applied, hydraulically released and are incorporated on the rear wheels for safety, reliability and maintenance-free operation. These brakes activate automatically in the event of a power loss or can be activated by the operator using the park brake switch or E-stop switch. Serviceability A large, wide door provides easy access to the engine, filters and hydraulic components. Separate access panels make service to the air cleaner and coolant surge tank easy. The spring loaded wipers require little maintenance. A removable panel provides additional access for extensive repair. Hydrostatic Drive Four rear wheels are driven by the two direct drive, low speed, high torque wheel motors. A rocker switch provides easy selection of the operating speeds. The hydraulic system results in lower maintenance costs over the life of the compactor as compared to mechanical drive systems. Dynamic braking, inherent in the propulsion system, and spring-applied, hydraulically released parking/ secondary brakes are maintenance free. Wheel Oscillation Oscillating wheel yokes allow all outer wheel pairs to move with the ground contour to ensure constant tire contact on uneven surfaces. Because bridging does not occur, uniform density is achieved across the full width of the roller. The four front wheels have 13 mm (1/2 in.) overlap with the five rear wheels, providing complete surface coverage. Large Ballast Capacity A large 3.5 m3 (122 ft.3) ballast compartment permits the addition of ballast material to obtain specified wheel loads. Ballast covers are hinged for easy access and safe handling. Large cleanout openings make it easier to remove the ballast. The compartment's low profile design provides a low center of gravity and an unobstructed view of the operator. ROPS All PT125R series compactors are supplied with a ROPS (Rollover Protection Structure) and seat belt. Use of the seat belt with the above will lessen the possibility of serious injury or death in the event of a rollover.
