A SAFETY PRECAUTIONS A DON'T TAKE CHANCES - use this manual to thoroughly familiarize yourself with your machine. The safety precautions listed below are for your protection - BE SAFETY CONSCIOUS. Loader 1. Keep the bucket as close to ground level as possible when transporting loads. 2. Operate the loader from the OPERATOR'S SEAT ONLY. 3. Be extra careful when working on banks or hillsides. 4. Keep the loader in a lower gear and the clutch cut-off in the dis- engaged 'Position, when going down steep grades. 5. Always operate at a safe speed, especially on rough terrain. 6. Always lOwer the loader to the ground or block it securely before performing any service operation or when leaving the machine unattended. 7. Keep the brake pedals locked together and the clutch cut-off in the disengaged position when roading the machine. 8. Carry a fire extinguisher and first aid kit at all times, and know how to use them. NO~ A set of lift cylinder safety stops can be fabricated from channel stock. Use the dimensions shown in Figure 1. Backhoe 1. Clear all bystanders before operating the backhoe. 2. Only allow qualified operators on the machine. 3. Before operating the backhoe, lower the stabilizers sufficiently to raise the rear wheels and level the machine. 4. Operate the backhoe from the OPERATOR'S SEAT ONLY. 5. Watch for overhead wires; never touch wires with any part of the backhoe. 6. When operating on a slope, avoid swinging to the downhill side. 7. Be thoroughly familiar with the location of underground gas lines, cables, mains, etc. 8. 1)0 NOT dig under the stabilizer. Soft ground or sand might cave in. 9.
