The fifth and final generation of Pontiac Grand Am vehicles were first sold in 1999 and ultimately ceased production in 2005. Engine options were cut down significantly, with only a 2.4L four-cylinder and 3.4L V6 engine available until 2002, after which the four-cylinder was replaced with a less-powerful version. This was a reflection of General Motor’s ultimate goal of ramping down production.
