Opel Astra Service Repair Workshop Manuals

Since 1991, Opel has manufactured a popular vehicle known as the Opel Astra. This compact car which is also known as a C-segment in Europe has been popular all over the world, so much so that other brands have adopted similar body styles. For over 25 years, the Opel Astra has been allowing small families and individuals to get from one place to another, safely. Thankfully, an Opel Astra workshop manual can guide technicians and owners through any necessary service or maintenance that may be necessary.

In the fall of ’91, Opel debuted the first generation of the Astra, which was titled the Astra F. When it first debuted, the Opel Astra was offered in a three or five-door hatchback, a sedan (known as a saloon), and a five-door wagon which is also called the Caravan. In Italy, a cabriolet was also designed and offered. The first generation of the Opel Astra was in production for 7 years and saw two main revisions. One of the most notable was the launch of Opel’s Ecotec engine in 1995. The Astra G went on to replace the Astra F in ’95, breaking ground for the second generation.

The Astra G was launched in Europe in 1998 and continued production until 2004. A three or five-door hatchback, four door sedan and a five-door Caravan were available to Opel buyers. From 2000 on, Italy also designed and produced two special versions known as the Astra Coupe and Astra Cabrio. A notable change for the second generation Opel Astra was the natural-gas powered engine.

The Astra H was in production from 2004 until 2009 before being replaced by the Opel Astra J which was available until 2015. The Astra H saw the introduction of a sporty three-door hatchback which was favorable among Opel car enthusiasts. The Astra J generation was based off of General Motors’ Delta II platform. Engine upgrades included 5-speed and 6-speed manual transmissions, as well as available automatic transmissions.

Currently, Opel is in its fifth generation of the Astra which is titled as the Opel Astra K. It has been in production since 2015, after replacing the Astra J. It is much smaller and lighter than that of it’s predecessor. With three different engine choices, buyers can choose from petrol engines including a 1.0 3-cylinder or 1.4 4-cylinder. Buyers who prefer diesel engines can also choose a 1.6 liter diesel engine. All Astra J’s have full-LED front light techniques which has been seen as innovative and modern.

Over the years, as Opel has modernized and innovated the Astra model, more and more people all over the world are appreciating this vehicle. Throughout all of the changes, upgrades and revisions, Opel has shown its ability to compete with other similar vehicles by manufacturers such as Buick or General Motors. Owners and technicians can rely on Opel Astra service manuals to keep Astras and other similar mimicked models in the best condition possible.
