2.8L & 3.2L V6 Article Text (p. 3) 1999 Merced delivery hoses at power steering pump. On C280, CLK320 and E320, disconnect bracket for automatic transmission and power steering pump at oil pan. 5) On all models, disconnect vacuum hose purge control valve. Disconnect fuel delivery hose. On C280, CLK320 and E320, disconnect heater hoses at firewall. On ML320, disconnect heater hose at rear of cylinder head. On all models, disconnect engine wiring harness. 6) Remove accessory drive belt. On C280, CLK320 and ML320, disconnect automatic transmission oil cooler pipes at radiator. Remove A/C compressor from engine and set aside with hoses attached. 7) Disconnect exhaust system at manifold. On C280, CLK320 and ML320, disconnect driveshaft at transmission. On all models, disconnect transmission park interlock cable. On C280, CLK320 and ML320, disconnect transmission shift rods. Support transmission and remove rear engine crossmember at transmission. 8) On ML320, remove torque converter bolts. Remove engine starter without disconnecting electrical connections. Remove all transmission-to-engine bellhousing bolts, except for top 2 bolts. 9) On all models, remove front engine mount bolts. Ensure all, electrical, vacuum and other hose connections are disconnected. On C280, CLK320 and E320, using a hoist, remove engine and transmission assembly. 10) On ML320, install transmission support. Using a hoist, slightly lift engine. Remove 2 remaining transmission-to-engine bellhousing bolts. Remove engine from vehicle. To install, reverse removal procedure. OVERHAUL NOTE: Information is not available. ENGINE OILING ENGINE LUBRICATION SYSTEM Crankcase Capacity Oil capacity is 8.5 qts. (8.0L) with filter. Oil Pressure With engine at operating temperature, oil pressure is 10 psi (.7 bar) or more at 700 RPM. Oil pressure is 44 psi (3.0 bar) or more at 3000 RPM.
