FRONT AXLE SYSTEM (TWO-WHEEL-DRTVE) FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY AND STEERING LINKAGE Two-Wheel-Drive Models r, WHEELS AND BEARINGS. To remove front uheel hub and bearings, fi.st raise and support the front axle extension, then unbolt and removethe tire and wheel assembly.Remove cap {2 or 3 Fis. 4), cotter pin (4), castellated nut (5). washer aro ourcr bearinscone (7). Slide the hub assembly fromspindle axle shaft. Remove dust shield (12), seal (9) and inner bearing cone ( l1). Drive bearins cups (8 and 10) from hub if renewal is required. Pack wheel bearings lib- erally with a multi-purpose lithium based grease. Reassemble by reversing disassembiy procedure. Tighten castellatednut (5) to a torque of80 N.m (60 ft.lbs.), then back nut off to the near€st hole and install cotter pin (4). Be sure to install cap (2 or 3) 2. TRACK ROD AND TOE-IN. Ali models are equipped with hydrostatic steerins. On 362 models, a single track rod connects the left and right steering arms which are attachedto the steering spindles. On 365-398models. the two track rods sre attached to Flg. t -Exploded view ol whael hub typlcal ol firo-whe€.l- each end of the hydrostatic steennE f, (i. shich is located betweenthe steerins arms.
