On the 2015 Ford Explorer, the positive battery terminal is not just a simple one-wire clamp. It normally has the main positive cable plus additional fused feeds coming off the terminal area for the vehicle’s power distribution.
Whether you’re seeing 3 or 4 connections can depend on the exact engine, trim, and how the cable/fuse link assembly is counted. Some people count the main cable and smaller fusible-link feeds separately, while others count the whole terminal block as one assembly.
Best thing to do is compare it against the battery cable / power distribution wiring diagram for your exact Explorer. Don’t guess on this one, because leaving one feed off can cause no-start, no accessory power, charging issues, or dead modules.
If you’re replacing the terminal or cable, take a clear photo before removing anything and make sure every eyelet/fused lead goes back in the same position. I recommend grabbing this 2015 Ford Explorer - UB (U502 NA) Service & Repair Manual, which will show the correct positive battery cable layout, fuse link connections, and power distribution diagram for that model.
Good luck!
