Yeah, that sounds like one of those common VW issues.
If you’re pushing the fob in and all the dash lights come on but nothing happens, it usually means the car is powering up but not getting the signal it needs to actually start.
A few things I’d check:
- key fob battery — even if it unlocks the car, a weak battery can cause start issues
- faulty key / transponder issue
- ignition switch / push-start module not reading the key properly
- steering lock module problem (pretty common on some Jettas)
- brake pedal switch not being detected (car won’t allow start)
- starter or starter relay issue if everything else checks out
On VWs, the immobilizer system can also stop it from cranking if it’s not recognizing the key properly.
Of course, it's hard to pin it down exactly without knowing the year and engine, since the setup changed quite a bit between models.
