Asking because, as far as I can tell, your 2004 Ford Ranger 4.0L V6 4x4 is factory-equipped with the M5OD-R1 5-speed manual transmission, while the "HD" version (M5OD-R1HD) was a similar but heavy-duty transmission that Ford only used in the larger F-150 pickups.
