Yes, for the important stuff — with a small caveat, though.
This 2016–2019 Toyota 4Runner manual is built around the 4.0L 1GR-FE V6, and since all 4Runners in those years use that engine, the manual is broadly compatible across trims — SR5, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, Limited, etc.
So for things like:
- engine service and diagnostics
- transmission and drivetrain
- cooling, fuel, exhaust
- electrical systems and wiring
- general suspension, brakes, steering
you’re covered regardless of trim.
Where you just want to be a bit realistic is trim-specific hardware:
- TRD Pro suspension components (Fox shocks, unique part numbers)
- some trim-specific brakes, wheels, or body bits
Those differences aren’t always broken out separately in the manual. Toyota usually documents the base systems, and specialty TRD parts sometimes get handled as variations or separate references.
So if you’ve got a 2016–2019 4Runner with the 1GR-FE V6, this manual is the right one for most repair and diagnostic work. Just keep in mind that very specific TRD Pro suspension part details may not be spelled out line-by-line.
