Diagnosing engine problems remotely is always a bit of a guessing game without being able to run tests myself, but based on your specific symptom, there are a few usual suspects you should check first.
First, look at the fuel shutoff solenoid. On these diesels, the solenoid often has a "pull" coil (energized while cranking) and a "hold" coil (energized while running). If the "hold" circuit has a blown fuse, a bad relay, or the solenoid itself is failing, the engine will fire while you turn the key but die the second you let go.
Second, check your safety interlocks. Skid steers are packed with safety switches (seat pressure switch, seatbelt/lap bar sensor, door switch). If one of these is glitching or out of adjustment, the controller might be cutting the fuel immediately for safety reasons.
That said, rather than throwing parts at it and hoping it fixes the problem, this service manual is your best bet. It contains the specific diagnostic flow charts to test the solenoid circuits, safety relays, and fuel system step-by-step. It’s the best way to pinpoint the failure without wasting money on parts you don't need.
