The “Check Stop Light” on a Volvo S80 basically means the car thinks one of your brake lights isn’t working right. It could be:
- A burnt bulb
- Corroded socket or loose connector
- Brake light switch acting up
- LED strip starting to fail (if equipped)
Easiest thing to do:
- Press the brake pedal and check all the rear lights (left, right, and the center high brake light)
- If one isn’t lighting → swap the bulb
- If they all work, look for a weak / flickering one — the car is picky
Sometimes the warning also pops up before the bulb fully dies, so don’t ignore it.
In any case, if you need the how-to for the bulb replacement procedure, the repair manual can help with that. Perhaps if you could tell us which S80 model year you're working with, we'll be happy to assist you further.
