On a Canon TR4722, the print head is built into the ink cartridges, so cleaning them is pretty easy. Try this:
1. Run the built-in cleaning — On the printer:
- Hit Setup / Settings
- Look for Maintenance
- Pick Cleaning or Deep Cleaning
Let it finish and try a test print.
2. If still crappy — Take the cartridges out and check the nozzles. Gently wipe the bottom of the cartridge with a damp paper towel (warm water works), just enough to get ink flowing. Don’t wipe too hard — you don’t wanna rip anything.
3. If the black is missing — That one likes to dry up. Set the nozzle area down on a warm, damp paper towel for a few minutes to soften the dried ink. Then wipe and reinstall.
4. Make sure the vents are open — There’s a tiny vent on top of each cartridge (near the label). If it’s plugged with tape or dust → no ink flow. Peel/check that.
If it’s been sitting a long time or the ink is old, sometimes new cartridges are the only way. These printers don’t love stale ink.
But yeah, that's pretty much it. Hope this little tutorial helps ✌🏻
