Well, sorry to break the news, but there is no regular dipstick on a 1993 Mazda B3000 (the 3.0 V6 truck). Mazda/Ford used a sealed automatic transmission on those (shared with the Ford Ranger), so you won’t find a dipstick under the hood like older trucks.
To check the fluid, you’ve gotta do it from under the truck:
-
Truck level and engine running at operating temp — Put it in Park, wheels chocked, parking brake on.
-
Crawl under the passenger side of the trans — You’ll see a small check/fill plug on the side of the transmission case.
-
Pull the plug — Fluid should just barely dribble out if it’s full. If nothing comes out, it’s low and you add fluid through that same hole using a pump bottle.
So yeah — don’t waste time hunting for a dipstick under the hood, there isn’t one on that truck.
