If you’ve got water pooling up on both driver and passenger side, chances are it ain’t just the A/C drain. That usually soaks the passenger side only. When both sides are wet? That’s almost always sunroof drains clogged.
But let’s run through it:
First — A/C drain
That little rubber hose on the passenger side firewall, way low down — that’s the A/C evaporator drain. Should be dripping steady when you run the A/C.
- No drip? It’s clogged.
- Pinch it, poke a zip tie up in there, or give it a gentle puff of air. Just don’t blast it or you might blow the hose off inside the dash — ask me how I know 😅
But more likely — sunroof drains
If you’ve got a sunroof, open it and pour a bit of water into each front corner of the tray. It should drain out right behind the front tires.
- If it backs up? You’re clogged.
- Run some weed-eater line or zip tie down each one till it clears.
- Don’t use coat hangers or wire — you’ll punch a hole in the soft hose.
Water runs down the A-pillars and ends up soaking both sides of the carpet. Super common on these.
Also worth a quick look:
Pop the cowl panel under the wipers — if it’s full of leaves and gunk, rainwater can overflow into the cabin filter area too.
So yeah — I’d check all that, but my money’s on the sunroof drains. That’s usually what does it when you’re getting water on both sides up front.
In any case, this 👉🏻 2004 Honda Pilot Service & Repair Manual does contain the A/C wiring diagram provided by the manufacturer and the repair procedure you need for this issue.
