On the 2008 F-150 with the 4.2L V6, the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor is built right into the mass air flow (MAF) sensor housing.
Pop the hood and look at the air intake tube, just after the air filter box — you’ll see the MAF sensor plugged into the tube with an electrical connector going to it. That same sensor unit handles both air flow and air temperature readings.
So if you ever need to replace the IAT, you’ll be replacing the entire MAF assembly. Just unplug the connector, remove the two screws, and swap it out. Easy job.
In case you need more details on the procedures surrounding the IAT, this manual has it, including step-by-step instructions, clear images, and exploded-view illustrations.
