Here’s how you can do it — it’s actually pretty quick once you know the steps:
- Turn on the ignition (engine off is fine).
- Hold your old garage door remote close to the buttons on your Audi’s overhead console (the ones usually near the rearview mirror).
- Press and hold both the remote’s button and the in-car button you want to program at the same time. Keep holding until the indicator light on the Audi button flashes rapidly — that means it’s learned the signal.
- For most rolling-code garage systems (which newer openers use), you’ll need to press the “Learn” or “Program” button on your garage door opener motor within about 30 seconds.
- Then, go back to the car and press the programmed button again for about two seconds — your garage door should move.
If it doesn’t sync right away, repeat steps 4–5 once or twice. After that, you’re good — your S5’s built-in transmitter will work just like your remote.
Good luck!
