On the 2016 Mazda 3, you’ve got several main ground points spread around the car — some in the engine bay, some inside the cabin, and a couple near the rear. Here are the main ones to check:
Engine bay:
- G1: On the left (driver’s side) frame rail, close to the battery negative terminal.
- G2: On the transmission housing, near the starter motor.
- G3: On the right (passenger-side) strut tower or near the ECU bracket.
- G4: Near the radiator support or fan shroud area (for lighting and cooling fan circuits).
Cabin:
- G5: Behind the dashboard, near the steering column bracket.
- G6: Under the center console or near the shifter assembly.
- G7: Under the driver or passenger seat — common for airbag and seat heater grounds.
Rear section:
- G8: Left rear quarter panel, behind the trim (for taillights and fuel pump).
- G9: Near the right rear tail light or trunk latch area.
Of course, this manual also shows every single ground location with diagrams and connector callouts. So if you’re chasing a voltage drop or other electrical issues, it can guide you on the fix.
