On the Fusion Hybrid the big 12-volt battery sits in the trunk, passenger side, tucked in behind a trim panel. Swapping it in isn’t too bad:
- Pop the trunk and pull the trim/carpet back on the right side so you can see the battery.
- Disconnect the negative cable first, then the positive.
- Undo the hold-down bracket so the battery can lift out. It’s a little heavy, so watch your back.
- Drop the new one in the same way it came out, make sure it sits snug in the tray.
- Reinstall the hold-down, hook up positive first, negative last.
- Put the trim back and you’re done.
That’s it — nothing special beyond the tight space. Some models may ask you to reset the windows or radio presets after, but the car’s computers will relearn on their own.
In any case, the service manual will guide you on the battery replacement, including step-by-step instructions, clear images, and exploded-view illustrations. So feel free to reach out to us with more details on your Fusion Hybrid (e.g. model year, trim, etc.), and we'll be happy to point you in the right direction.
