According to VW's service bulletin 17-18-06—Oil Consumption Measurement, the normal oil consumption for the Jetta GLI's 2.0L engine is up to 0.5 quarts every 600 miles (or, in metric, about 0.5 liters per 1000 km) under typical conditions. Although, that spec is for “normal operation” — if your engine has high mileage, worn rings, or is being driven hard, it may burn more.
