It’s not too bad, but it’s a bit fiddly depending on the exact model. On most 2012 Can-Am ATVs you’ll need to strip a few plastics first — seat off, side panels, and usually the front cover to get clear access. Once that’s out of the way, you’ll see the tank.
You’ll need to disconnect the fuel line (watch out for pressure if it’s fuel injected), the vent hose, and the electrical connector for the fuel pump if it’s inside the tank. After that, it’s mostly a couple of mounting bolts holding the tank down.
So it’s not “hard,” but it’s more time-consuming than folks expect because of all the bodywork in the way. Having the service manual helps, since it shows exactly which clips and screws to pop off and in what order. Saves you from breaking plastic tabs or fighting with hidden bolts.
