You’ll find the serial number on your Tohatsu 20HP outboard on a metal tag or sticker mounted to the transom bracket, usually on the port (left) side of the motor mount — right where the motor clamps onto the back of your boat.
The tag should show:
- Model number
- Serial number
- Sometimes even the production date or barcode
If the tag is missing or faded out, your next best bet is to look for a stamped number on the engine block itself — often near the crankcase or starter area, but it varies by year/model.
