That’s actually normal behavior on a lot of Peugeot 206s — when you open the door, some of the dashboard or parking lights briefly turn on, especially if the key is still in the ignition or was recently removed. It’s part of the “follow-me-home” or courtesy lighting system built into the car.
Basically, it’s there to give you a bit of visibility when getting in or out of the car in low light. It doesn’t mean anything’s wrong — especially if your temperature and other gauges are fine and the lights turn off after a few seconds or when you close the door.
If the lights stay on for a long time or you’re noticing battery drain, that could be a different story — like a sticky door switch or BCM (body control module) issue. But if it’s just a quick glow when you open the door, that’s Peugeot doing Peugeot things.
That said, in the event that anything goes wrong or is abnormal, this manual has a comprehensive electrical section. Whichever is wrong with the dashboard light will be covered here, including step-by-step instructions, clear images, and exploded-view illustrations.
