If your airbag light is on in a Mazda, the car’s probably storing SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) codes, but you’ll need a proper scan tool to pull them — regular OBD2 readers usually won’t catch airbag stuff.
That said, here are some common Mazda SRS codes people run into:
- B1994 / B1995 – Driver or passenger airbag circuit open or resistance too high
- B2290 – Crash sensor triggered or restraint system fault
- B1932 – Faulty seat belt pretensioner
- B1342 – Faulty SRS control module
- B00A0 – Occupant classification system error (passenger seat weight sensor)
- U0151 – Lost communication with airbag module (CAN bus issue)
If you're not using a scan tool yet, some older Mazdas (early 2000s) blink the airbag light in a pattern when you turn the key — those flashes are actually codes. For example, 2 long blinks and 1 short would mean Code 21.
You can also find the airbag system-related DTC codes in the service manual of your Mazda vehicle. Feel free to reach out to us with more details for further assistance ✌🏻
