The Yamaha 8HP 2-stroke outboard puts out around 90 to 110 pounds of thrust, depending on prop pitch and load conditions. Yamaha doesn’t officially rate small outboards in pounds of thrust like trolling motors, but that’s the general ballpark for an 8-horse motor.
It’s way more powerful than any electric trolling motor — roughly equivalent to a 60–80 lb thrust trolling setup in terms of push, but with way more top-end speed and load-carrying ability.
