If you’re trying to figure out the build date on your Yamaha 115 or 130 2-stroke, here’s where to look:
Check the transom bracket, left side (port side). There should be a small metal tag or sticker — that’s your ID plate. You’ll see the model number, serial number, and usually a code at the end that tells you the year.
Something like:
- 115TLRV → that “V” means it’s a 1997
- 130TXRW → the “W” means 1998
Yamaha used letters for years back then — V is ‘97, W is ‘98, and so on.
If that plate’s missing or unreadable, sometimes there’s a sticker inside the engine cover near the flywheel or intake — might have the build month/year printed on it.
