On most Toyota Hiace vans (especially the older ones and even some newer models), the battery isn’t under the hood — it’s usually under the driver’s seat or just slightly forward of it, kind of under the floor.
Here’s how to get to it:
- Open the driver’s door
- Look below or slightly in front of the seat
- You’ll see a panel or metal cover with bolts or clips — pop that off
- Battery’s tucked in there nice and snug
It’s actually a pretty smart spot, helps with weight balance and frees up engine bay space — but yeah, a bit unpredictable if you’re used to everything being up front.
