If you just changed the oil and filter on your Scirocco R and that oil light popped on right after, a few things might be going on.
First thing — check your oil level again, even if you think you filled it right. Car should be cold, on level ground, pull the dipstick and make sure it's sitting between the min and max marks. Some of these newer VW engines are picky about oil level.
If that's all good, make sure the sensor plug under the oil pan didn’t get knocked loose during the oil change — it happens more than you’d think.
Another culprit could be a wrong filter or a leftover gasket from the old one. Seen that a few times — engine gets confused when pressure’s off. You also wanna make sure that drain plug is tight and not slowly dripping.
And yeah, sometimes the car just needs a little drive before the warning clears on its own — give it a few start cycles.
If you’ve checked all that and it’s still acting up, it could be the oil level sensor itself going bad, but that’s not as common right after a service. Still, something to keep in mind. If you want to really dig into it, the manual’s got the wiring layout and sensor info in there too.
In any case, there are several possible causes to an engine oil light on, and the manual is also good for troubleshooting such warning lights and help you find the real culprit in a jiffy.
Wish you the best of luck!
