On a Massey Ferguson MF5310, the rear hydraulic outlets are usually controlled by a selective control valve (SCV) with levers in the cab, and sometimes a diverter/selector switch if the tractor has more than one set of remotes.
Here’s how you’d normally switch between them:
- Locate the SCV levers – These are typically on the right-hand side of the operator seat. Each lever controls one pair of hydraulic couplers.
- Identify the coupler pairs – Rear hydraulic outlets are grouped in pairs (e.g., top and bottom ports for each circuit). Each lever will control only its assigned pair.
- If there’s a diverter valve or selector knob – Some MF5310 setups use a mechanical or hydraulic selector to switch one lever between multiple outlet pairs. Look for a small lever or knob near the couplers or beside the seat. Turning or moving it changes which outlets the SCV controls.
- Shift the selector – Move the diverter lever or knob to the position for the outlet you want to use (it may be labeled 1/2 or A/B).
- Operate the SCV lever – Once the right outlet is selected, push or pull the SCV lever to send oil flow to that circuit.
If you can’t switch at all:
- The diverter valve might be stuck from rust or debris.
- The linkage between the selector and valve may be jammed or disconnected.
- If it’s a single-SCV model, you simply can’t operate two sets at once — you’ll need to physically move your hoses to the active set.
The service manual usually has the exact diagram and location of the selector/diverter valve to help you check if it's stuck or missing. Feel free to reach out to us with more details, and we'll do our best to help point you in the right direction.
