You can identify whether your Yamaha golf cart is a G2, G9, or another model by locating the serial number plate, which tells you both the model (the “G” number) and year.
Here’s how to find it:
-
G2 carts: Serial number is usually located under the rear bumper on the frame cross-member, or under the seat on the driver’s side frame rail.
-
G9 carts: Look under the seat, towards the front of the frame rail on the driver’s side. Sometimes also stamped near the rear frame cross-member.
Once you find the serial number (something like JG5-123456), the first 3–4 characters will tell you the model:
-
JG5 = G2
-
J38 or JG9 = G9
