To adjust the idle on a Honda BF50 outboard, here's how it's commonly done:
If it’s a carb model, warm the motor up first, then look for the idle on the throttle linkage — usually in the middle of the carbs. Turn it slowly: right to raise the idle, left to drop it. You want it sitting around 900 to 1000 RPM in neutral. Use a tach if you have one, or just go by ear if not.
If it’s EFI, you might be out of luck — idle’s handled by the computer, so there’s no to turn unless you’ve got Honda’s scan tools.
Of course, the complete procedure is fully covered in the manual. So feel free to reach out to us with more details on your BF50 (e.g. model year, serial number, etc.) so we can assist you further.
