As far as I can tell, there would be four hoses coming out of the fuel tank on a 2004 Daytona 600 — not just three. Here’s how they break down:
- Fuel Feed Hose (Red Connector): This is the pressurized line that runs from the fuel pump assembly on the tank to the left-hand side of the fuel rail. It connects to the red port on the pump mounting plate.
- Fuel Return Hose (White Connector): This hose returns excess fuel from the regulator on the right-hand side of the rail back to the tank. It connects to the white port on the pump plate.
- Breather Hose #1: One of the breather hoses is a drain line for the filler cap area. It prevents overflow and directs excess fuel away safely.
- Breather Hose #2: The other is for the tank’s ventilation or evaporative system. Both breather hoses connect to the underside of the tank and should be reinstalled in the same position they were removed from — they’re not interchangeable.
If your model only has 3 hoses, could it be because it was sold in a market where the EVAP system was not mandatory? Honestly not sure.
