If you're looking at the piece connected right near the radiator cap on your 2009 Nissan Versa, you're probably talking about the overflow hose (or recovery hose). That little hose runs from just below the cap neck down to the coolant reservoir tank.
It’s part of the pressurized cooling system. When the engine heats up and pressure builds, excess coolant flows out through that hose into the overflow tank. Then, when things cool down, it gets sucked back in. If that hose is cracked, disconnected, or clogged, you might get overflow or coolant loss without obvious leaks.
