The crankshaft position sensor on a Chevy Captiva, it's usually mounted on the engine block, down near the transmission bell housing. More specifically, it's located at the rear of the engine, just above the oil pan, tucked in tight between the engine and trans. Bit of a tight squeeze to get to, especially from the top.
If you're working on a 2.4L Ecotec engine, expect to find it just behind the starter. You’ll likely need to go in from underneath — jack it up safely, pull the splash shield, and you should spot the sensor bolted in with a small 10mm or 8mm bolt, and a connector that’s always harder to get off than it should be.
If you're not 100% sure where yours is or what tools you’ll need, the service manual can give you the exact diagrams and step-by-step on replacing it without breaking something else in the process.
Feel free to reach out to us with more details on your Captiva (e.g. model year, engine, region) so we can assist you further.
