For your 2013 Suzuki DF150, you’ll want to use Dexron II automatic transmission fluid or any high-quality equivalent ATF. This is the recommended hydraulic fluid for the Power Trim and Tilt (PTT) system on these outboards, and using anything else — especially mixing different oil types — can cause erratic trim performance or even damage internal seals over time.
It’s also important to follow the correct procedure when checking or refilling the fluid:
- Raise the engine to the full-tilt position.
- Remove the filler plug and check the level (it should be flush with the bottom of the plug hole).
- If low, top off with Dexron II.
- Bleed the system by running the trim up and down several times from full up to full down.
You’ll find the full service procedure — including refill instructions, bleeding steps, and diagrams — in the “Power Trim and Tilt” section of the OEM manual, starting on page 328.
If you’re doing more than a simple top-up, like diagnosing leaks or rebuilding the pump assembly, that section has everything you’ll need.
