Replacing the air conditioner (cabin) filter on a Hyundai i30 is a quick DIY job that usually takes about 10–15 minutes. This guide applies to most Hyundai i30 models (FD, GD, and PD generations), though steps may vary slightly depending on the year.
1. Access the filter area: Open the glove box and empty it. On the right side, you’ll see a small damper arm — gently unclip it.
2. Release the glove box stops: Push inward on both sides of the glove box to release the stopper tabs. The box will drop down, giving access to the filter housing behind it.
3. Open the cabin filter cover: Locate the rectangular panel behind the glove box — this is the filter housing cover. Unclip both sides to remove it.
4. Remove the old filter: Slide out the old cabin filter. Note the airflow direction arrows printed on the edge of the filter.
5. Install the new filter: Insert the new filter with the airflow arrows pointing in the correct direction (usually downward). Make sure it’s seated evenly.
6. Reattach everything: Snap the filter cover back in place, lift the glove box up, press in the sides to re-engage the stoppers, and reconnect the damper arm.
7. Test it: Start the car and turn on the fan to make sure airflow is good and clean.
That's it!
